'The Fosters' season 3 spoilers: Chris Warren Jr. joins cast in recurring role

ABC Family

According to the Hollywood Reporter, "High School Musical" alum Chris Warren Jr. has been cast in a recurring role for "The Fosters" season 3. He will portray a character named Ty who is on the hunt for his younger brother AJ, played by "Switched at Birth" actor Tom Williamson.

The report describes Ty as a handsome young man who aged out of the foster system and was separated from his younger brother. Now he is back and will meet up with some of the main cast as he looks for AJ in the same foster home that the kids came from.

Chris started out with guest appearances on "Z0oey 101," "The Bold and the Beautiful," and "Just Jordan" but finally landed a more substantial role as Zeke in the "High School Musical" films. He also played the character Marcus in the film "American Gun" and would then portray Xander in "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: The Squeakquel."

Season 3 of "The Fosters" is set to take place three weeks after the car crash accident that ended season 2, according to a report from the IBTimes. The upcoming season will follow Jude and Connor as they continue to explore their same-sex relationship while Callie is due to meet her new love interest.

With regard to the car crash, it has long been speculated that Jesus is going to die since actor Jake T. Austin confirmed last March via Twitter that he was saying farewell to the show. During the car accident, it was Jesus' side that received the bulk of the impact so his death seems to have been planned well ahead in order to make room for season 3.

Brandon will be heading to the Idyllwild Crest Musical School and it is heavily hinted via Twitter images that he will form a new band with new members, one of which may be his new love interest.

"The Fosters" season 3 premieres this June 8.
