Something new keeps surfer, new mother Bethany Hamilton busy: 'The Hobbit'

Aside from motherhood and surfing, what else is occupying the Soul Surfer's mind? Apparently, the new mother is now hooked on the fictional world created by J.R.R. Tolkien! (Facebook/Bethany Hamilton)

All Bethany Hamilton can think about is surfing, so much so that after she gave birth to her son Tobias, she confessed that she is longing to go back surfing again after a brief hiatus from her much-loved sport.

But now, something else has preoccupied the dedicated surfer's mind apart from motherhood and surfing, and she shared this piece of information on her Instagram account (@bethanyhamilton).

She posted a photo of "The Hobbit" book together with a steaming hot beverage and wrote, "Morning tea and read. My husband is a Lord of the Rings nerd, we recently watched the trilogy (I had not seen it) it was so good! Now I'm on to reading The Hobbit!"

"The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" are both written by J.R.R. Tolkien. His books have been translated into films, which were all directed by Peter Jackson. "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy wrapped up several years ago, while the final installment for "The Hobbit" trilogy called "The Battle of the Five Armies" was shown in 2014.

Earlier, Hamilton and her husband Adam Dirks took their son Tobias for a day trip out in the ocean. While she was pregnant, Hamilton proudly proclaimed that her son would love surfing and the ocean just as much as she does, but his first experience actually proved otherwise.

She shared a photo of her husband carrying their son Tobias, who was wearing a tiny orange beach hat. Even with his hat on, Tobias appeared to be turning his face away from the sun's rays.

"Family beach day! Tobias had his first time in the ocean with his papa!!! He didn't love it," the "Soul Surfer" admitted in the photo.
