Android 5.0 Lollipop update for LG G2 to release in early 2015

LG G2 will reportedly receive the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update early next year.

LG Germany announced in their Facebook page that the new Android OS will come to the LG G2, but did not specify the exact release date of the OS update. Meanwhile, it has been reported that the LG G3 will get the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS later this year and will be the first LG device to enjoy the perks of the Lollipop OS.

LG G2 will follow suit, which points to early 2015 as its launch window. Other reports say that LG will release the update "as soon as possible."

After spending months in developer preview, Google finally rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS alongside the Nexus 9 and Nexus 6. Naturally, the Android OMEs have been waiting for the Android OS so they could start working on their respective alterations and customizations. One of these Android OMEs is LG Electronics. Google hinted that it will roll out the OS to the third party manufacturers a month after its release.

It is only natural that Android 5.0 Lollipop OS will be released to Nexus and Google Play Edition devices first. But basing on track records, Motorola, HTC and LG will be the first mobile manufacturers to roll out the Android update to their respective devices.

The new Android 5.0 Lollipop boasts a "new design language" which is coined as Material Design. This design is claimed to be cleaner and more organized than previous ones, which developers like. The mobile software packs new navigation buttons that are a triangle, circle and square. The mobile software also has new features such as improved notifications, lockscreen, multi-tasking, notification bar, and better battery. Moreover, the new OS will also greatly improve the security of the new devices as it will enable users to unlock their smartphone without the need to enter a password.
