Will Benedict Cumberbatch join the DC Cinematic Universe? Wikipedia

After having his name attached to almost every superhero movie franchise in the past, Benedict Cumberbatch is once again speculated to be part of the DC Cinematic Universe according to the latest Justice League movie rumors.

An article posted in MoviePilot mentioned several names of stars who could be ideal cast members in the upcoming Justice League films, and one of them is Sherlock's lead actor.

The British actor had been reported to appear in several superhero flicks. The latest of which is the rumor that he was cast as the lead star in the film Doctor Strange. However, Cumberbatch or his camp have yet to confirm if the reports are true.

The post said that Cumberbatch is perfect for the role because he is "someone that could, not only, play an alien, but a detective as well."

Cumberbatch is best known for his amazing portrayal of detective Sherlock Holmes. His very intriguing voices could also be perfect for portraying the role of an alien. Because of that, the site stated that he may be the best choice for playing the role of alien superhero, Martian Manhunter.

Martian Manhunter, also known as J'onn J'onzz, is a superhero who came from Mars. He was brought to Earth after a scientist named Saul Erdel accidentally teleported him to the planet. He is also known as the sole surviving member of his race after a Martian holocaust killed everyone including his wife and only daughter. His supernatural abilities include amazing strength, durability, super-speed, shape-shifting, intangibility and flight as well as telepathy. To disguise his alien persona, the Martian Manhunter works as a gritty police office whenever he is not protecting his adoptive planet.

If Cumberbatch agrees to play the role, he will work alongside other big Hollywood celebrities for the upcoming Justice League movie. So far, the only confirmed stars for the film include Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman as well as Ray Fisher as Cyborg.

Though the Justice League movie does not have a confirmed release date, rumors are speculating that it will be out by 2017.
