On its 25th anniversary, the national group of churches called Assemblies of God USA is proud to announce the steady growth of its membership, noting that the denomination registered over 3.1 million adherents as of 2014.

In a press release, the Assemblies of God cited the latest statistics showing a steady increase of adherents in the United States. The denomination listed 3,146,741 adherents as of last year—the highest number on record.

The Assemblies of God's growth streak began in 1989 when 2,137,890 adherents were reported. Now, the denomination is citing a 47 percent growth rate.

According to the United States Census statistics, the US population grew by approximately 29 percent (246.8 million to 318.9 million) in the same period when the Assemblies of God grew by 47 percent.

Not only did the Assemblies of God show a marked improvement in the number of adherents but it also boasted of increasingly diverse attendees. The denomination currently has 35 percent of its churches belonging to the non-white ethnic minority, whereas back in 1989, only 20 percent of its churches were from this group.

At the same time, more than 40 percent of all Assemblies of God USA adherents are those who belong to the non-white ethnic minority. Surprisingly, they have a lot of millennial adherents, with those ages 18-34 making up nearly a quarter (23.4 percent) of its membership.

"The Assemblies of God has been hallmarked with a dependence on the Holy Spirit and fidelity to Scripture," said Assemblies of God General Superintendent George O. Wood. "The growth of this Movement can only be attributed to God's blessing and His work through the Holy Spirit."

The Assemblies of God reportedly has 12,849 churches in the United States, which is another record-breaking number. Of these churches, 345 were opened in 2014. Moreover, the denomination now has 36,884 ministers.
