"American Idol" alum Colton Dixon and Annie Coggeshall started their journey towards marriage with an engagement at Disneyland. They finally tied the knot in the same vein.

The two had a Disney-inspired wedding in Nashville on Friday evening, and Dixon was so overcome with his emotions that he cried when he saw his bride walk down the aisle.

"I'm overwhelmed," Dixon told PEOPLE just after the ceremony. "There's so much joy! She was glowing and it was unbelievable how beautiful she was. I absolutely lost it. Audible tears. And I'm not a good-looking crier either!"

The 24-year-old singer managed to hold in his tears of joy enough to serenade his new wife during the reception. He sang Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love," and Coggeshall, 27, admitted that the moment was "so special" for the both of them.

True to their love for all things Disney, the couple hired a horse and carriage "like Cinderella's" to take them from the church to their reception.

"It's like our own fairy tale," added Coggeshall.

The ceremony was a family affair for the Christian couple. Dixon's uncle played the piano while his sister Schyler, who also auditioned for "American Idol," sang "How Great Thou Art" as the couple lit a unity candle and took communion.

Coggeshall wore a gorgeous Vera Wang gown while Dixon donned a "modern, musician's take" on the traditional tux. They had 160 guests, and the reception was held at the Scarritt Bennett Center, a venue Coggeshall described as having a "formal, royal feel."

Despite his age, Dixon believes that it is the right time for them to be married. "We build each other up and we are stronger together," he said. "We've never been in the same state for more than a couple of weeks at a time, so I'm excited about that. I'm really excited to start our own life together and get to know her on a whole different level."

The two will enjoy their honeymoon in Tahiti then settle down in Dixon's home in Nashville, Tennessee.
