YouTube Kids app: child-friendly app finally released for Android and iOS devices

There has always been a concern for parents when it comes to their kids being exposed (or accessing) content that may be inappropriate.

Some developers have gone to the extent of creating apps that filter out inappropriate content in the past but with the release of the YouTube Kids app made for mobile devices, parents can now heave a big sigh of relief.

YouTube is no doubt something that kids frequent but concerns on the proper content that they can access has been up in the air. With the new app made for iOS and Android, better control on what type of video content they can access should account for safer browsing of videos that kids would browse for.

Take for example the version made for Android devices. Ordinarily they would have to sign in to their Google account before they can browse or search for the video they want. With the app, kids can immediately access kid-friendly shows which should be easy to access.

Found at the top of the app are four basic icons which kids can click and access. That includes genres as music, shows, educational programs and explore icons. After some time, a 'Recommend' icon will appear as well, making it easy for kids to navigate and find the videos they want.

At the right side it a search box where kids (who can type) can make a pinpoint search of the video they want to watch. For younger kids, they can tap the microphone icon and search with their voice.

The app has done a marvelous job filtering searches where inappropriate titles will evidently be denied. YouTube's partnership with companies such as DreamWorks TV, Jim Henson TV, Mother Goose Club, and National Geographic Kids should provide kids with a wide selection of videos to access via the said app.

The YouTube Kids app is free for download and pretty much easy to use, something parents will surely want their kids to use instead of the regular YouTube access.
