Xiaomi Mi 5 specs: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 in flasghip scores 2300 in single-core benchmark test

Another leak involving the Xiaomi Mi 5 has made the rounds. This time around, it is of a benchmark test, where the much-awaited flagship showcased the power of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, believed to be the forthcoming smartphone's source of power.

The info comes from leakster Leaksfly, who shared the new via the Chinese social network Weibo. While there's no mention of the smartphone, it is believed that the handset that was used in the benchmark test was the much-awaited flagship.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 came out with 2300 points in a single-core test. Phone Arena notes that while this is an achievement and definitely a high score, it still failed to beat out the Apple iPhone 6s, whose A9 processor generated a score of 2500 in the same type of single-core benchmark test.

Ever since the smartphone from the China-based tech firm failed to show up in July, a year after its predecessor was released, there has been an abundance of leaks and reports about the highly anticipated and long-demanded flagship. But one thing is for sure – Xiaomi Mi 5 is definitely on the way.

During the launch event for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Mi Pad 2, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun assured that the device is well underway, adding that it will be "close to perfect" upon launch. He also clarified that the tech firm takes 12 to 18 months to churn out a flagship.

This goes with Chinese market analyst Pan Jiutang's prediction. He claims that the smartphone will be here as early as January but the availability of the device in stores won't be until Feb. 8.

As previously reported, assuming the production of the Xiaomi Mi 5 has started after the release of the Xiaomi Mi 4, the company is entering the 15th month of the manufacturing. That makes January the eighteenth month and February 2016 a likely time that a well put together Xiaomi Mi 5 will be seen in the flesh.

As for the rest of the specs, the device is said to come in a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, 4 GB RAM, 16-MP camera with dual LED flash, fingerprint sensor and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
