'Xenoblade Chronicles X' update: gameplay video shows off readily-accessible massive terrain

The world in Monolith Soft's upcoming Japanese action role-playing video game "Xenoblade Chronicles X," which was recently shown off in a Nintendo Direct broadcast, is unimaginably massive and painstakingly detailed. The developer touts that the much-awaited spiritual successor to "Xenoblade Chronicles" holds a territory so enormous, said to be five times that of the previous title.

The developer assured gamers that all corners of the meteoric realm called Planet Mira will be accessible straight away. The game will first hurl players to the surging forests of Primordia going to the Metroid-like swamp Noctilum, which is all the more interspersed with foliage.

After tearing through a filament of brutes, players will find themselves trekking the valleys of Oblivia, which is engulfed with fiends just like the white- tree-crammed continent called Sylvalum. The last region to raid is the Cauldros, also known for its more ominous name — Black Steel.

Players will be brushing into the areas searching for pieces of a space ark called Lifeholds, which brought what's left of mankind to the planet. They will do so with the use of Skells, which will allow them to drive and fly across the oversized landscape.

Although Monolith Soft assures that the entire map of the upcoming game will be unlocked immediately, players have to traverse the world with caution as most of its inhabitants are powerful enough to slay them so it is best to come prepared and vigilant.

The great thing about the gameplay in this new Wii U-exclusive is that players will not face Planet Mira and its menacing dwellers alone. They can team up with four other warriors online.

"Xenoblade Chronicles X" will be rolled out on April 29 in Japan. There is still no word about a release in the United States and in other parts of the world.
