Xbox One backwards compatibility titles include 'Left 4 Dead,' 'Portal 2' for June

The original "Left 4 Dead" is now available on the Xbox One. Left 4 Dead 3

The list of games in the backwards compatible feature of the Xbox One has expanded with new titles, with at least two fan-favorite triple-A games joining the mix.

In an announcement posted by Major Nelson, at least five new titles are already live in the backwards compatible games library. Fans can now download "Babel Rising," "Brain Challenge," and "Flashback" and play the titles on the Xbox One. Surprising additions to the list are "Left 4 Dead" and "Portal 2." The additions further fuel rumors that sequels may indeed be coming to the franchises.

Fans expected Microsoft to add triple-A titles to the list of the backwards-compatible games. Prior to the five new additions, Xbox One players got the chance to play the classics "XCOM: Enemy Unknown" and "Sega Bass Fishing."

The backwards-compatible games of the Xbox One now number over 200 titles. Fans are still waiting for some major games to make it to the list. One of them, the original "Call of Duty: Black Ops," has already been added. Fans are still waiting for the three games in the "Bioshock" series, as well as some classic triple-A games like "Red Dead Redemption," "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" and the sequel to the "Black Ops" game, "Black Ops 2."

Of the fan favorites, "Skyrim" may be improbable since Bethesda has already confirmed at the E3 that a remastered version of "The Elder Scrolls V" is coming to the Xbox One, together with its PlayStation 4 and PC versions. Meanwhile, though the new systems are still unreleased, fans expect that the program will continue even with the roll out of two new Xbox consoles, the already-revealed Xbox One S, and the upcoming upgrade, "Project Scorpio."
