'WWE 2K16' news: Cover star to be announced July 6

Not too long ago, 2K Sports revealed that the number of playable characters in "WWE 2K16" will double that of its predecessor, bumping up the roster from 67 to 120. Fans are now speculating who of the wrestlers will be the face of the upcoming wrestling simulation game.

Fortunately, the guessing game will be over soon. 2K Sports has announced via Twitter that the official cover reveal has been agreed to take place on July 6 on Monday Night Raw.

It is quite difficult to handpick which character will end up on the "WWE 2K16" cover. The previous iteration of the game had John Cena, and before that, it was The Rock that graced it. The name being dropped as the fighter on the new cover is Seth Rollins.

In an Instagram photo, a couple of "WWE 2K16" developers posed, showing off their new Apple Watches that they quipped were the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion's gift to them in exchange for putting him on the cover of the latest installment in the wrestling franchise.

In the comments, fans suggested their favorites with majority of them mentioning Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. Meanwhile, Hardcore Gamer says it may be one of the wrestlers whose character portraits have already been shown by 2K Sports.

The same Twitter handle showed the official "WWE 2K16" portraits of Daniel Bryan, Paige, King Barret (Bad News Barret), Daniel Bryan, Finn Balor, Dean Ambrose (who is also a favorite by fans) and Seth Rollins.

It remains to be seen who 2K Sports will go for. It is also being suggested that the game studio may even be considering multiple superstars for the "WWE 2K16," which is slated for an Oct. 27 release.
