The Windows 10 Mobile preview build 14283 is now available for Windows Insider Program members belonging to the Fast ring. The build was announced by Gabe Aul, Microsoft's corporate vice president, last Thursday.
Aul immediately stated, "As a reminder, we are initially making new mobile builds from our Development Branch available only to devices that shipped with Windows 10 Mobile. Currently this includes the Lumia 950, 950 XL, 650, 550, Xiaomi Mi4, and ALCATEL ONETOUCH Fierce XL. We plan to expand to other devices once we start releasing Windows 10 Mobile to other devices. If you are a Windows Insider on a device not mentioned above, you can stay in the Fast ring and sit tight until we expand to other devices or go back to Build 10586 and switch to the Release Preview ring to continue helping us test Cumulative Updates."
The Windows 10 Mobile build 14283 brings several improvements with the way the apps inform its users of activities, especially on communications apps. The latest build added missed call and voicemail notifications that would surely not be missed by its user. However, a bug is still affecting this particular feature, which makes the notification stay visible for a longer period of time. A fix is currently in the works, according to Aul.
Outlook mail and calendar also received an update. These include an option to turn off the message preview text, immediately transfer unwanted email to junk mail and sending out an "I'll be late" message to colleagues directly from the notification tab.
Additionally, several fixes were implemented with the said build. There were several display and flickering issues connected to song titles during playback, background image showing up too dark or too light on the All apps list, and stuttering of the background image of the start screen when scrolling up or down, as well as icons appearing too small when set to 350 percent DPI.
Issues concerning hang-ups while typing or rebooting, keyboard suddenly popping up, clipboard content being pasted when hitting the @ button, and deleted custom notification sound will also be taken care of by the latest build.
Microsoft also acknowledges issues that need to be addressed and a fix would probably be included with the next build. These include the Bluetooth pairing issue between Windows 10 mobile devices and Microsoft Band 1 and 2, Gadget app not detecting the Microsoft Display Dock, and Wi-Fi connection issues concerning WEP encryption.
The post also suggested that for those encountering the Bluetooth issue between Windows 10 mobile devices and their vehicle's audio video unit, the older Bluetooth profile should be deleted first in order for the fix to totally take effect.
