Utah Jazz trade news: Enes Kanter to OKC Thunder

In a move which may seem surprising, the Utah Jazz parted ways with Enes Kanter and Steve Novak as they team took part in a three-team trade at the NBA trade deadline.

Kanter and Novak were shipped to the OKC Thunder which also involved the Detroit Pistons.

In return, the Jazz ended up with Kendrick Perkins, Grant Jerrett, a first round pick and the rights to Tibor Pleiss. They also got a second round draft pick from Detroit.

Players also involved in the trade saw DJ Augustine and Kyle Singler headed to the Thunder while Reggie Jackson will be now with the Pistons.

Kanter made it known that he wanted to be traded before the NBA trade deadline due to lack of playing time and apparently he got his wish. And while the Jazz did say that they wanted a big return for Kanter, it seems that such came in the form of the future of the team.

Jerrett is a young and upcoming player while Pleiss could add more height in place of Kanter if ever the Jazz find a way to pry him from FC Barcelona. And don't forget future picks which in all could account for team that is silently rebuilding.

As far as Perkins is concerned, rumors have it that he will be likely bought out meaning that Perkins will be available soon. Several teams are closely monitoring this development and are hoping to hook up the big man who was once part of the Boston Celtics.

Perkins was traded to the Thunder in 2011 along with Nate Robinson for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic.

Among the teams interested in acquiring Perkins the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Dallas Mavericks and the Chicago Bulls.
