UFC 192 rumors: Will Daniel Cormier be fit enough to face Alexander Gustaffson at UFC 192?

Daniel Cormier is currently undergoing stem cell treatment for his injured knee, opting for the platelet-rich plasma treatment rather than go under the knife.

Apparently Cormier doesn't want to be sidelined for long though it remains to be seen if he would be healthy enough to compete in Universal Fighting Championship (UFC) 192 this October.

If he is given the green light to fight, Cormier will face Gustaffson, someone he believes is technically good but lacks the body to potentially last with him in a match.

Cormier likewise explained that Gustaffson was not his first choice. He wanted someone like Ryan Bader but that will have to wait.

"When you look at their resume, Ryan Bader has better wins than Alexander. But it'€™s all about matchups," Cormier said via the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Though they won't be facing each other, Bader will be around in UFC 192 to face Rashad Evans. The tiffs seem to be paired in a tournament type of style. Cormier (no.1) will face Gustaffson (no. 4) while Bader (no. 2) will face Evans (no. 3). So could that mean that the winner of both pairings will face off next?

That of course remains to be seen since the Cormier vs. Gustaffson fight will depend largely if the champion can compete. If not, there is no word yet on what alternative Dana White has up his sleeve.

Aside from Bader or Gustaffson, Cormier believes that rival Jon Jones will be another fighter he may face in the future. All that could happen by next year (September, 2016) and it looks like he welcomes the challenge. In fact, he will make sure that he still has the belt by that time to make it all the more interesting.

Apparently this has something to do with the title, something Cormier lost to Jon Jones but eventually recovered when he defeated Anthony Jones at UFC 187.

This opportunity came up when Jones was stripped of the title prior due external factors. Hence, with both having a colorful history, Cormier is eyeing payback since Jones seems to have his number thus far.

But for now, the focus is on Cormier against Gustaffson. Better yet, will the fight happen this October? If not when?
