The holidays are coming and a lot of people will aim to buy new devices such as tablets.  Holidays also entail discounts that a lot of consumers are waiting for, especially on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Below are the top five cheap tablets that consumers may want to save up for:

iPad Mini 3

The current iPad Mini 3 has minimal update from the previous iPad Mini. The tablet packs the same 7.9-inch screen display and last year's dual-core 1.3 GHz A7 processor with 64-bit processor paired with 1 GB of RAM, 5 MP back camera and 1.5 MP front-facing camera, and 6470 mAh battery capacity. However, the tablet runs with the new iOS 8 operating system.

Although these are not as stellar as new iPad Air 2 specs, the iPad Mini 3 price starts at $399 with next day delivery.

HTC Nexus 9

The HTC Nexus 9 surprised a lot of buyers when it showed off its top-of-the-line specs and features. The tablet packs an 8.9-inch IPS LCD display with Quad HD (1536 x 2048) screen resolution, and is equipped with Nvidia's 64-bit-enabled Tegra K1 chipset with dual-core 2.3 Denver CPU and Kepler DX1 GPU paired with 3 GB RAM. The Nexus 9 runs with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop, which supports 64-bit chipsets.

The tablet has an 8 MP back camera with autofocus and LED flash and 1.6 MP front facing camera, stereo speakers with HTC Boomsound, and a 6700 mAh battery. The device also comes with WiFi ac, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, and microUSB 2.0 and is available in 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage variants.

Google Play Store lists the device for $399 for the 16 GB model while the 32 GB model costs $479 with shipping of one to two days.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 is the South Korean tech company's miniature tablet and is available in 7.0 and 8.0 versions, depending on the size of the screen. However, the tablets have similar specs and features. Either model boasts a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz paired with 1.5 GB RAM. The device also includes a microSD slot for additional storage. As for the cameras, the tablet comes with a low 3.1 MP shooter at the back and 1.3 MP front-facing camera.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 is available in two variants. The one with a 7-inch display costs $179.99 and the other with an 8-inch display costs $239.99.

Asus Memo Pad

Following the footsteps of Samsung, Asus also offers two-tier small tablets. Asus MeMO Pad offers 7- and 8-inch screen displays. The tablets pack quad-core processors with 1 GB of RAM. Both come with a microSD slot for external storage and also sport 5 MP back camera and 1.2 MP front camera. The MeMO Pad 7 (2014) costs $149, while the MeMO Pad 8 (2014) is being offered for $199.

Kindle Fire HD 6

Amazon delivers a tablet that has fair specs and features. The Kindle Fire HD 6 comes with a 6-inch screen display with 252 ppi.
