The Vampire Diaries season 6 episode 3 'Welcome to Paradise' spoilers: A Happy Elena

Will Elena's decision to forget about Damon free her or hurt her more? Facebook

The second episode of The Vampire Diaries Season 6 which aired on Oct. 9 has answered questions, revealed secrets and brought hope, snapped necks and wiped out memories. The episode was teeming with action, and the same is expected in the third episode which will be called "Welcome to Paradise".

The episode's title seems to be very unsuitable, considering all the drama that occurred in previous episodes and the melancholy everyone has to deal with following what happened to Damon and Bonnie. But as what "Yellow Ledbetter" revealed, there is a good explanation behind the new episode's title.

The second episode bore good news. Damon and Bonnie haven't died and are apparently stuck in an alternate universe set in May 10, 1994. Future episodes will reveal what the two will find in the place and how they would get out of it too.

However, in the real world, Elena (Nina Dobrev), who has been settling with a hallucinatory version of her boyfriend in the previous episodes to get her by, finally had enough. Miserable, she had Alaric (Matt Davis) to destroy her memory of her lost vampire lover. Alaric made that possible, which would explain Elena's carefree attitude in the upcoming episode.

A blissful Elena will turn up in the swimming hole with an incredibly good-looking guy named Liam (Marco James) inviting Caroline (Candice Accola) to join them. Wetpaint even reports that Liam and Elena will get a little too cozy in the episode, and a lip-locking action is expected.

As for Caroline, her desire to bring her friends back led her to a painful truth. With Enzo (Michael Malarkey), they discovered that Stefan (Paul Wesley) is starting a new life with a girl named Ivy (Emily Chang) and has moved on from the tragedy. Stefan defends to have checked 20 countries before abandoning the task. The following scenes showed the two brawl and end in Ivy's death in Enzo's hands. The two will get into more feud in the upcoming episode, which will lead Stefan to see a strangely changed Elena.

In the episode, Matt (Zach Roerig) will be compelled to make a "startling revelation" to Enzo. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) on the other hand, will discover vital information about the anti-magic spell "that could potentially put Elena's life in danger." Capping it off will be a romance that may finally blossom between Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Liv (Penelope Mitchell).

A complete turnaround from the events may be in sight, especially knowing that Damon and Bonnie may be able to return. Nevertheless, the happenings in the Mystic Falls and beyond have already posed a challenge on Damon and Elena's relationship. And it mainly roots to Elena's thinking that Damon is no longer the man she loved, but a mere liar.

The new The Vampire Diaries episode will air on Oct. 16.
