'The Originals' season 3 spoilers: No end to Klaus-Elijah rift

Klaus and Elijah The CW

Elijah was ready to disown his brother Klaus, who killed Gia and cursed Hayley to live the rest of her life predominantly in wolf form. If it wasn't for Hayley, who Elijah loves so dearly, and her child that now needs a positive influence, he would not dare to work with his brother again.

Actor Daniel Gillies, who plays Elijah in the series, revealed during The Wrap's "Drinking with the Stars" episode that season 3 will be driven by the Mikaelson brothers' blood feud, which only grows more and more unfixable as his character's torment and Hayley's sufferings worsen all because of Klaus' doing.

"I think the rift between them is going to precipitate the chain of events," Gillies revealed to host Greg Gillman. "It's not just a begrudging alliance now — it's an alliance on its last thread of trust."

He added that the bitter conflict is "the fundamental problem of the entire show."

Season 3 certainly won't see the brothers burying the hatchet and patching things up. Gillies himself does not know where this feud will lead Elijah and Klaus because there are "too many variables" and that "there's no way to determine how to strategize taking a show from A to Z on network television."

However, it won't be long before the Mikaelsons work together once more. Executive producer Michael Narducci revealed that a new outside threat will leave them no choice but to team up to save New Orleans. This new threat, he said, involves Davina.

Hayley's fate, on the other hand, still hangs in the balance. It is still unknown if fans will see her in human form once more or if she will have to endure the curse forever. One thing is for sure, though: Klaus earned himself another enemy.

"Hayley's not going to be able to forgive him easily for what he's done," Phoebe Tonkin, who plays the character, told TV Line. "Even if he did it for the good of his baby, I don't think he did it in the right way. He should have let Hayley know that's what he was doing so she could have been part of the plan."

Tonkin is psyched to see what Hayley looks like as a "four-legged creature" although she still hopes that there's one episode in "The Originals" season 3 where she will be human.

The new season will premiere in fall.
