'The Originals' season 3 spoilers, plot news: Klaus and Elijah become enemies, Hayley stuck with curse forever?

Klaus and Elijah The CW

In the blood-spattered quest to beat Dahlia, the Mikaelsons fought tirelessly, made unimaginable sacrifices and watched their loved ones breathe their last in the hands of their foes and, more agonizingly, in the hands of their friends and family. In the end, "The Originals" fans realized that it is Elijah who feels the most battered after the seemingly unending throwdown, for having been doomed to endure the pain of losing Gia and seeing Hayley suffer such a dreadful curse, all because of his brother's doing.

Elijah and Klaus' relationship is already broken but by the end of season 2, it felt as if there is no chance of piecing it back together. Klaus, to gain Dahlia's trust in order to defeat her, had to murder Gia, whom Elijah became close to as he moved on from the fact that he couldn't be with Hayley.

As he went on with the charade charge, Klaus conferred Hayley a curse that took away her ability to transform at will into a human and vice versa. Now, Hayley plus her wolf pals can only turn into humans once a month. This, in turn, led the werewolf to turn to Elijah for Baby Hope's safety while she is away.

Elijah believes that Klaus had motive other than beating Dahlia. In "The Originals" episode titled "When the Levee Breaks," Elijah stabbed Klaus in the chest and left him to die because the former was under the impression that the latter was responsible for Aiden's death.

Elijah believes that this is more about vendetta than Dahlia's defeat. It remains to be seen how the brothers become brothers once again. "The Originals" season 3 will delve into the duo's relationship and if it has the chance to actually be saved.

Also, the new season will flesh out Hayley's curse and it will answer the questions about the possibility that this is the fate she is destined to live and if her situation is permanent.

"The Originals" season 3 will return this fall.
