Fans of the long-running "The Elder Scrolls" franchise are already expecting a follow-up to the successful "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" title. However, a rumor hounding the franchise has it that it will take a long time before the sixth installment is rolled out. Furthermore, some have said that Bethesda has put off further developing "The Elder Scrolls VI" in favor of updated content for the rebranded "The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited." Seemingly lending credence to the speculations is the fact that Bethesda is also currently hard at work on another frontline title, "Fallout 4."
But Bethesda Vice Pesident Pete Hines put the speculations to rest when he told The Telegraph that although it has been four years since the last "The Elder Scrolls" story came out, they are not ditching the series in favor of other projects. Hines also stressed that Bethesda is aware that one of the most-anticipated releases in the industry is their follow-up to "The Elder Scrolls."
"It's rare to have franchises like the ones we have and to have people joking about when is 'Skyrim 2' coming out," he said.
"The reason they say that is because generally speaking that's what you'd be getting with another publisher in charge. They'd be spitting out a 'Skyrim 2' the year after or two years later. That's just not how we view it. We're not the sort of publisher that focuses on 'what's our 25 titles for 2015'"
Meanwhile, although it seems that Hines has already impied that the next "The Elder Scrolls" is not being done away with, fans are still in the dark regarding when the title will be released. Gamers would have to wait for further announcement from the developer.
