Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) will come to Liz's (Megan Boone) rescue when he finally learns what happened to her in the upcoming season of the NBC series "The Blacklist."

Entertainment Weekly reports that when Tom becomes aware that his wife is now a fugitive being hunted by the FBI, he will not have second thoughts in trying to help her. Executive producer Jon Bokenkamp revealed that Tom is not the sort of character to stay out of the picture when someone very dear to him is in danger.

"What he doesn't know is she assassinated the Attorney General of the United States. When he catches wind of this, he'll have something to say about it and will not want to sit back," Bokenkamp said.

Last season finale, Tom's name has been cleared of all charges and was ready to start a new life. Now that he and Liz have changed places, so to speak, as the latter becomes the new target of the federal government and the Cabal, Tom will have to come back and assist her any way he can.

Bokenkamp also let slip that the two will have a hard time coping with the reversal in their roles. He said that they were "completely flipped" with the situation and were not sure what approach to use in coping.

"She's now feeling the desperation of being a criminal and trying to operate in the shadows, and he's trying to come clean and trying to redeem himself in her eyes," Bokenkamp added.

Meanwhile, season 3 will also focus on the developing relationship between Liz and Reddington (James Spader) as they both try to stay alive. TV Line reports that the two's new team up will be laid bare for the viewers to see, as the season premiere will be all about them. According to the executive producer, Red and Liz will have "a really strange and powerful dynamic," as they complement each other in "a really nice way."

"The Blacklist" season 3 will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
