'The Big Bang Theory' season 9 spoilers: Was Sheldon really planning to propose to Amy? What Mayim Balik has to say

Nerds and geeks all over the world were distraught when their brother Sheldon got dumped by his lady love Amy, who he was planning to propose to all this time. The fate of the relationship is still up in the air, which is why waiting for "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 is a pain.

However, Mayim Bialik, who plays the role of Amy in the long-running sitcom, made fans stop and think about what Sheldon really has in mind as he looked at the ring. Viewers are under the impression that Sheldon was about to pop the question but they could be awfully wrong.

"We don't really know what the story is with that ring," the actress told LA Times. "We don't know what he was planning to do with it. We don't know if it was something he got from his mother. We don't know what the process was by which he acquired that and what he would think to do with it," she revealed.

Bialik argued that the ring isn't at all proof of what is going on inside Sheldon's head with regards to his relationship with Amy and that all this time, people may be looking things the wrong way. "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 should shed light on that.

"People want to jump to all sorts of conclusions. Because it's super-exciting to do so and they love these characters and they know them," Bialik said. "But the neat thing about our show and Jim [Parsons] and my character's relationship is that anything can happen. And I think the finale was proof of that."

In a separate interview with Gold Derby, the actress also couldn't confirm whether or not what happened can be considered a break-up. Whatever it is the future holds for the Amy-Sheldon romance will only be revealed in "The Big Bang Theory" season 9, which will premiere on Nov. 5.
