'The Bachelor: Winter Games' cast, release date news: Bachelor nation to heat up the season in February

"The Bachelor: Winter Games" releases its first promo, revealing its cast members as well as its release date.

The upcoming spin-off series will be ABC's very own version of the 2018 Winter Olympics, which is happening in Pyeongchang, South Korea this February.

In this international competition, 14 bachelors and bachelorettes from various countries will seek to find love, amid language barriers and cultural differences, with a dozen of the USA's former candidates for "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette."

The contestants will participate in various winter sports challenges -- like biathlon and ice dancing -- for the chance to earn date cards, which they can use to score some on-set romance.

Chris Harrison will be hosting the sports-themed series at a resort in Vermont, with help from SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm and KABC sportscaster Ashley Brewer on the commentary front.

The love Olympics will be kicked off by former "Bachelorette" contestants and now spouses Trista and Ryan Sutter, who will also serve as grand marshals. There will also be a performance from country singer Ruthie Collins.

Guest appearances include current Bachelor Arie Luyendyk, Jr., as well as previous Bachelorettes Rachel Lindsay and JoJo Fletcher.

It is not a winter game without a few winter stars. Figure skating champions Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner, as well as Olympic skating silver medalist Nancy Kerrigan, are also making an appearance.

The two-dozen contestants were introduced in a 30-second teaser released on Monday.

Leading the candidates is season 20 Bachelor Ben Higgins. He is joined by former "Bachelorette" hopefuls Dean, Eric, Jamey, and Josiah, who battled it out for Lindsay in season 13, as well as Luke from season 12 (Jojo Fletcher) and Michael from season 9 (Desiree Hartsock Siegfried).

The American bachelorettes are perpetually friend-zoned by Ashley Iaconetti from "The Bachelor" season 19, Clare from season 18, and Lesley from season 17.

The four-part series will premiere on Feb. 13, Tuesday, 8 p.m. EDT, on ABC. Succeeding episodes will air on Feb. 15, 20, and 22.
