'The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron' movie plot update: Death of one of the Avengers?

 Facebook

Sparked by an intriguing comment made by director Joss Whedon, rumors have been spreading on the Internet about the upcoming Marvel movie "Avengers:Age of Ultron," months before its scheduled release date.

When asked about what fans should expect from "Avengers 2," the director of the highly anticipated Marvel action movie replied, "Death, Death and Death."

The shocking announcement bolstered a number of speculations, with fans left clamouring for details.  Several websites have given their two cents on which character will be removed from the highly-regarded team of superheroes.

Movie Pilot suggested that the rumors point to Steve Rogers, based on a number of promotional images that show a crack in Captain America's shield.  Another probable plot would allegedly involve Bruce Banner's demise after his alter-ego, the Hulk, goes toe-to-toe with Iron Man.  The site also pointed out that Ultron's attack may become very effective against Black Widow, since she lacks "any real powers."

The site also pointed out that the "death" the director talked about relates to Thanos' obsession with "Mistress Death," as Whedon had hinted that Thanos will appear in one of the "Avengers" movies.

Another web site, Comic Book Movie, also has guesses as to which "Avenger" character would be removed from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which includes Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye and Nick Fury.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is now in its post-production stage as the cast have finished filming in August.  Fans are speculating that the official movie trailer will be shown in November, while rumors are saying that an exclusive preview of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" will be featured in the Blu-ray/DVD release of Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy."

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is scheduled to premiere on May 1, 2015.
