With the official premiere date of "The Affair" season 3 just a stone's throw away, cast member Maura Tierney does some last-minute teases about the explosive new season of the series.

Speaking to New York Daily News, the Golden Globe-winning actress revealed that the new season will center on Noah (Dominic West), who was imprisoned for the death of Scotty (Colin Donnell).

However, "The Affair" season 3 will not start with Noah locked up donning orange scrubs. Instead, fans will see him three years after doing the time, where he is broke and depressed, working as a writing professor.

"[The writers] made the choice to skip jail. He's been released. As the season progresses, there are more and more flashbacks. His journey in prison gets revealed towards the end of the season," Tierney explained.

Apart from a severe case of depression, Noah has a woman in his life by the name Juliette Le Gall (Irene Jacob) when "The Affair" season 3 kicks off.

However, the synopsis for the "The Affair" season 3 premiere teases that the mysterious new woman in Noah's life "isn't enough to overcome a sense of dread."

Juliette's point of view will also be followed in "The Affair" season 3, and Tierney assures that it will be a breath of fresh air for fans as they have been following the perspective of four people involved in a murder.

As for Tierney's character, Helen is engulfed by guilt and thinks that the only way for it to all go away is to bring Noah back, which is not possible the current situation.

"As the season progresses she gets more and more desperate. There's some stuff that she does that's a little unhinged. It's just not as funny. It's a little sadder. It's definitely surprising," the actress explained of her character's dealings come "The Affair" season 3.

Although the series won't return until next week (Sunday, Nov. 20 at 10 p.m. ET), Showtime is giving fans the chance to watch it early through YouTube, SHO.com and on iTunes.

Those subscribed to Showtime's streaming service, Showtime Anytime will be able to watch the second episode right after the Nov. 20 premiere.
