It seems that there is an on-going issue with Apple devices for T-Mobile subscribers, especially the iPhones. According to reports, there are T-Mobile iPhone users who are experiencing the dreaded "blue screen of death," with their devices turning blue for a second and then restarting.
Reports have surfaced on forums and threads like Reddit and Twitter. T-Mobile subscribers also flocked to the support page of Apple, aside from reporting the glitch to T-Mobile's customer service. According to the posts, the iPhones turn blue for a second or two before rebooting. The subscribers that have been affected include those using the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. In addition, it was observed that the glitch happens on devices that run on iOS 8.1 and 8.3.
A Reddit user who contacted T-Mobile customer service said on his post: "The sense I got from the technician is that a) they suspect memory problems, and b) they're getting a lot of calls about it."
A number of workarounds also floated online following the "blue screen of death" reports, with many subscribers saying that disabling Wi-Fi calling can solve the problem. However, with many users picking iPhones because of their VOIP features, the solution is a temporary one at best.
Some even say that deleting old messages and restoring the iPhones to factory settings may work, although this should be considered only as a last-ditch effort, since backing up data, resetting the device, and loading the user data again is a lengthy process.
As of press time, there is no official comment from Apple or T-Mobile about the glitch, and observers note that without any guidance from the carrier or the phone manufacturer, subscribers are in the dark as to whether the glitch is caused by a software update, a carrier-related problem, or if there is something wrong with the platform. Glitches, especially those stemming from software updates, often relatively hit only a small percentage of users. However, one workaround that works for a number of subscribers may not necessarily be the same solution for others, not unless the carrier offers to roll out an official fix for the glitch.
