The "Suicide Squad" lineup may at last be filled. Writer and director David Ayer seemed to have found his Rick Flag in RoboCop. Actor Joel Kinnaman, who played as the strapping crime-fighting cyborg, is up for the role of the last member of the notorious squad.

Tom Hardy was set to take on the role but reports say that he turned it down due to either the schedule for the film not matching his or that he was not a fan of the script. Also, he will be filming his new movie "The Revenant" soon and he is set to do some promotions for "Mad Max: Fury Road" so he has his hands full. Jake Gyllenhaal was reportedly approached, too, but he said no.

Kinnaman's participation, however, is yet to be set in stone. But "Suicide Squad" should start filming soon (April to be exact) and Ayer would not be able to push through the project with the major limb of the gang missing, so here is to hoping that the actor may hop on board the project. Rick Flag is such a big role as he is the elite soldier at the forefront of the crew.

Kinnaman will be joining such a stellar ensemble that carries out dangerous operations for the U.S. government. This includes Will Smith (Deadshot), Jared Leto (The Joker), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and Cara Delevingne (Enchantress). "Suicide Squad" will be DC's massive follow-up to "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." According to Empire Online, Jesse Eisenberg may reprise his role as Lex Luthor in "Suicide Squad" and even Ben Affleck may be in for a cameo in the film, too.

It remains to be seen whether Kinnaman, who stars in the movie "Run All Night" out on March 13, will give a nod to the movie. The clock is ticking for Ayer as "Suicide Squad" is scheduled to hit the silver screen on Aug. 5, 2016.
