'Street Fighter 5' update: Game to employ Unreal Engine 4, set to have pristine graphics

 Capcom

Capcom's world-renowned fighting game franchise "Street Fighter" will be getting a refresh and everyone will be glad to know that the new title known as "Street Fighter V" will make use of Unreal Engine 4 by Epic Games.

It has been seven long years since the arrival of "Street Fighter IV," which had a Capcom-crafted engine onboard. Now, the developer, who first brought together much-loved warriors from across the world in year 1987, is finally building its hottest game with a completely different (and much better) engine.

"Our goal with the next generation of Street Fighter is to take our beloved fighting game franchise and bring it to our fans in the best way possible," Capcom producer Bochan Kim said as quoted via VG 247. "In order to fully deliver on that promise, we know we have to incorporate the latest and greatest technology available, which is why we partnered with Epic Games to power Street Fighter V using Unreal Engine 4."

VG 247 adds that "Street Fighter V" will be the first of its series to employ the engine, which in turn makes it the second fighting game the engine will support. The first one is Bandai Namco's "Tekken 7" set to come out in March next year. Other games worth noting are "Dead Island 2" and "Kingdom Hearts III."

Gamasutra, as echoed by Arcade Sushi, adds that the one-fifth of the PS4 and PC-exclusive "Street Fighter" title is already complete. A teaser trailer was already released on Dec. 6. However, a release date is yet to be announced. But with so much work Capcom has to put into the game, assuming that the developer just crossed 20 percent, "Street Fighter V" is still far from stepping on to the horizon. But rest assured that with its choice of engine, brawling and clashing will be displayed in pristine and unspoiled graphics.
