'Street Fighter 5' update: Tutorial video with Ken and Ryu flashback released

"Street Fighter 5" won't be out until next year but thankfully, developer Capcom helps fans get by in the long wait with material from the highly anticipated title. The game studio just dropped a clip from the tutorial videos of the game that features Ryu and Ken.

Before the practice fighting starts, there is a flashback of Ryu and Ken as students of Master Gouken. According to IGN, the versions of the fighters shown are from "Alpha" ("Street Fighter Zero") or the 1990s spinoff for the game that serves as the prequel of the saga.

The art style in the backstory is different from the actual "Street Fighter 5" gameplay. The story is told by various pictures where the characters are only heard talking in the background. Their lines are plastered on the screen as they recite them.

The tutorial is under the premise of Ryu trying to "ponder his fist" as his master instructs him. The tutorial is broken down into three, with Ryu and Ken's conversations acting as the transition. The characters remain chatty as they go about mastering their moves.

Both characters don their Alpha costumes and IGN believes that these very costumes could end up being unlockable in "Street Fighter 5." But more than aiding gamers to learn the ropes, the video is believed to have glimpsed the game's story mode.

Not much is known about that aspect, yet it is believed that the story is set after the events in "Street Fighter 3," which is preceded by "Street Fighter 4." Capcom is yet to talk about the story mode of the game, although it promises to drop more details as they progress.

As for the tutorial for the gameplay itself, only the basics of the fighting game are included. Gamers will take the role of Ryu as they learn how to hit, throw and dodge attacks. The tutorial also shows how to activate Ryu's V-Skill and how to perfect his V-Trigger.

"Street Fighter 5" will be out some time next year.
