Fans of "Star Wars" can't wait to see two of the latest entries in the franchise: the upcoming film installment "The Force Awakens," and the full release of the "Star Wars: Battlefront" game. To add to the hype, it was also recently reported that a third entry will be making its way to mobile platforms Android and iOS.

According to reports, a new game to be titled "Star Wars Uprising" will be making its way to mobile devices later this year, and will be produced by Disney, Lucasfilm, and Kabam. Geared to be a role-playing and fantasy game, "Star Wars Uprising" will take place in the farthest reaches of the galaxy, and will bridge the gap between the films "Return of the Jedi," the original sixth entry into the "Star Wars" timeline, and the upcoming "The Force Awakens" film.

The game will center on the on-going insurrection and clean-up of the remaining elements of the Galactic Empire, with players able to create their own customized characters based on the different races in the "Star Wars" universe. Gamers will have a choice between rebel guerillas, smugglers, bounty hunters, and others. Based on their chosen characters, gamers will then have unique skill sets and will be given missions for real-time cooperative play. They can also learn different abilities and collect items and rewards to truly customize their characters.

Since this will be an open-world, role-playing fantasy title, the developers and publisher has pulled out all the stops to make the upcoming title worthy of its franchise name. Aside from making the character designs "Star Wars"-authentic, the environment of the game is also taken from different worlds in the "Star Wars" universe. Based on the teaser images from developer Kabam, the title will let players explore familiar grounds such as the Cloud City in Bespin and the snow-covered frozen planet of Hoth.
