'Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One' spoilers, release, cast news: Felicity Jones to portray daughter of iconic villain?

Actress Felicity Jones has been attached to "Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One" for some time, but a recent report on "Meet the Movie Press" reveals who she might be playing in the film. According to tipster Umberto Gonzales aka El Mayimbe, she may be playing the daughter of one iconic "Star Wars" villain.

During the show, El Mayimbe spilled out a rumor that Jones may be portraying Boba Fett's daughter. If this is true, then it is possible that Boba Fett — who should be in his mid to late 20's in "Rogue One" — used the cloning technology to speed up the aging process for his daughter.

According to a report from Screen Rant, this rumor should be taken with a big grain of salt as El Mayimbe's rumors have been hit-or-miss lately. "Rogue One" is also going to be set just before the beginning of "Star Wars: A New Hope," which makes this rumor even less likely to be true.

Screen Rant states that it is possible that El Mayimbe's source might have seen Jones on set wearing Mandolorian armor, which could be why they are speculating she is Boba Fett's daughter. If she does indeed play the character, then there is a chance she may return in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" or even in "Episode VIII" to get revenge for her father's death back in "Return of the Jedi."

However, there have been numerous Mandolorian females from the "Star Wars" canon, the most famous being Sabine Wren from the animated series "Star Wars Rebels." After all, Sabine did attend the Imperial Academy and is portrayed in the series as one of the original founders of the Rebel Alliance, which makes her a likely candidate for Jones' role.

Disney and LucasFilm have not confirmed if the rumor is true but there is a chance they will reveal the full cast and their roles for the film in the upcoming D23 event this Aug. 14 to 16.

"Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One," directed by Gareth Edwards, opens in theaters on Dec. 16, 2016.
