It looks like the Sony handset spotted in the wild last May finally got its name. According to reports, the long-rumored smartphone the Web calls the Sony Lavender will soon be formally introduced as the Xperia T4 Ultra and will serve as the titanic Japan-based tech firm's first ever handset to don a bezel-less design.

Roughly a couple of months ago, rumored specs of the so-called Sony Lavender emerged. This was followed by leaked images presenting the device with a classy, one-of-a-kind look, which it owes to the absence of bezels, something lauded by and ultimately thrilled fans.

This is because not many phones ever come out without bezels. Manufacturers try to make them as thin as possible but none of them has forgone them altogether. Concepts for upcoming handsets depict such look but they never really materialize. That might change soon.

The said Sony Xperia T4 Ultra is expected to come with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and a crisp 401 ppi pixel density. Its front and back cameras will be set at 13 megapixels and both will have LED flash, too.

It is also reported to be equipped with a 64-bit MediaTek MT-6752 chipset with an octa-core 1.7 GHz CPU and the Mali-T760 GPU to boost its power. This will also be paired with a 2 GB RAM. No word on the storage options, though, but it is said to run Android Lollipop.

The Sony Xperia T4 Ultra is purportedly coming with 4G LTE connectivity and a dual SIM variant, and is said to cost buyers around $280 to $300. It is expected that it will be released as early as next month but there's no specific date set yet.
