Seeing that Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices are pretty much new, the initial prognosis is that these handsets could be getting the Android Lollipop bump after all the other previous Samsung variants have had their taste of Android love.

However that doesn't seem to be the case right now with reports that a certain Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge user has gotten the Android 5.1.1 OTA update.

The user (an XDA-Developers user dubbed Sunderwear) is Eduardo Mera. He claims to have gotten the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 update via T-Mobile. He shares it through a video of his Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge running on the new firmware.

With the update, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge made a significant jump from the Android 5.0.2 to 5.1.1. He claims that the device is a lot snappier and comes with notable improvements.

Upon application, the Galaxy S6 Edge had reportedly updated the locks of the bootloader device and was reportedly able to repair the memory leak which the Android Lollipop previously had since launching last November, 2014. The said leak does not free up memory when apps are closed (or opened), requiring users to restart the device.

Another feature that Android 5.1.1 brings is the enabling of the Guest Mode. The said feature allows multiple users to access the said handset or tablet but will constrain the personal data stored. Guest mode users will however be able to have their own space, allowing them to install their own apps.

Out of the box, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge does not have the Guest Mode available.

A Kids Mode will also be made available, providing some device safety just in case the device falls in their hands.

While the release seems to sound like it only covers T-Mobile subscribers, it is believed that most S6 or S6 Edge users from other carriers as well, will have their update rolling out soon.
