Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date Aug. 13 with Galaxy S6 Edge Plus?

In the past few days, there were rumors that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 along with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be unveiled on Aug. 12. Now there's word that this pair of oversized flagships will make users wait an extra day, with a launch said to be scheduled in New York on Aug. 13.

According to Business Korea, this purported release date was selected so Samsung can snatch attention away from Apple, which is expected to bring out its new iPhones in September. Apparently, the South Korea-based tech firm is changing its launch tradition just to pull that off.

Previously, Samsung released new phones in September via the IFA in Berlin. But this year, the tech giant is upping its game, and it seems to be more aggressive in giving its rival in Cupertino a run for its money.

The Galaxy Note 5, as described by rumors, will come with a 5.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display of crisp Quad HD quality. It is also said to be fitted out with an Exynos 7422 processor coupled with 4 GB RAM and a spacious 32 GB storage. GSM Arena reports that it will have microSD support up to 128 GB.

The latest Note iteration is said to sport a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera complete with Optical Image Stabilization and its selfie shooter will reportedly be 5 megapixels. The battery will be at a massive 4100 mAh. A recent entry in Zauba, an import/ export website in India, declared a $572 price.

As for the appearance of the device, it was long rumored that it will borrow the sophisticated design of the Galaxy S6. New images of transparent cases for the device show that the new Note will don a curved back, as what was already speculated.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is expected to be released next month.
