Android 5.0 Lollipop schedule for Samsung Galaxy S5, Note 4 rollout still under wraps

Samsung has not said a word about its plans in rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its devices. Even so, the giant South Korean company definitely has some sweet treats on the cards for its users.

Gadgets NDTV says that the Samsung flagship, the Galaxy S5, is the first in line to get a taste of Google's latest operating system. The site says that Samsung is setting it up first for handset users in Poland. For those in the U.S., Gotta Be Mobile revealed that major carrier Sprint is currently testing Android 5.0 Lollipop on its Galaxy S5. The date of the launch, however, is yet to be announced. Conversely, French carrier SFR set December as the month the Samsung flagship will get its much needed Lollipop makeover.

Weeks back, Sam Mobile released screenshots of the S5 donning the Lollipop look while keeping its own. The handset's Touchwiz User Interface is seen to rise above the new software's Material Design. The major design modification hit toggle buttons, calendar and dialer app the most. The spanking new interactive notification tray looks good, too. Also, with the Android Run Time, the touch response was made seamless.

The latest Note offering, the Galaxy Note 4, is expected to get the update soon after the S5 does. As per SFR and Gotta Be Mobile, a rollout borders on January next year. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S4 rumors offer a vague conjecture. It is said that Lollipop will get to the handset by early 2015, but a specific month or day is lacking. Lastly, the Galaxy Note 3 could receive the update next year, too.

Apart from Android 5.0 Lollipop, Android Kitkat 4.4.4 is something to consider, too. Google is gradually rolling it out simultaneously with its software successor. This makes the all-out rollout for the newer software more backbreaking. The dilemma is that it is yet unknown if Samsung will ever push Android 5.0 Lollipop to its devices before the year ends. Gotta Be Mobile remarked that it is highly likely that it might. Nevertheless, 2015 will surely be a big year for a full-blown release.
