Rose McGowan news: Fires back at statement from Harvey Weinstein

American actress Rose McGowan recently fired back at the disgraced former producer and filmmaker Harvey Weinstein for completely denying her accusations of rape against him. McGowan's reaction follows Weinstein's statement that was made through his lawyer, which was publicly released last Tuesday, Jan. 30.

McGowan's reaction stemmed from Weinstein's outright denial of the rape accusations made by the actress as the Hollywood mogul described his sexual encounter with her as consensual. As reported by Variety, McGowan's publicist stated that Weinstein's recently released statements are an attempt to "malign" the efforts of the 44-year-old actress to bring him to justice for his alleged misdeeds.

Additionally, Weinstein's remarks do not only undermine the accusations of McGowan but the numerous other women who have come forward with similar stories and accusations.

Furthermore, McGowan's publicist reminded everyone that it has already been proven that Weinstein resorts to espionage tactics to subdue the allegations that are being made against him. Weinstein is described by McGowan's publicist as a "sad" and "old-fashioned sexist."

Weinstein's statement was publicly addressed by his lawyer, Ben Brafman, who stated last Tuesday that McGowan's statements are purely false and are just publicity stunts to bolster the sales of her book titled "Brave" -- which details her encounters with Weinstein at a hotel in Park City, Utah back in 1997 during the Sundance Film Festival. McGowan previously accused the former filmmaker of forcibly performing indecent acts on her in the past.

McGowan has been going on tour to promote her book and has been making appearances on multiple talk shows such as "Good Morning America" and "Nightline" to discuss "Brave" and her recent experience with the "MeToo" and the "Time's Up" movement. In fact, McGowan also made an appearance at the "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," wherein she described herself as the catalyst of Weinstein's downfall during the extensive interview.
