U.S. finance and current Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver has increased his takeover bid to £20m for the Rangers Football Club plus a £6.5m emergency loan to help keep the ballclub afloat during these times of crisis.
The £20m offer is an improvement from a previous offer of £18m he made several days ago. The Rangers are drowning and debt and Carver says he is willing to shell out the cash necessary to pay off the loans incurred in recent weeks.
Carver likewise said that he is willing to continue working with the other people who hold stakes on the team as well. That includes Dave King, Douglas Park, George Letham and George Taylor.
Sarver found out about the Rangers' predicament through defender Davie Robertson.
However it seems that the battle of Ibrox is far from begin resolved that easily. After making his pitch, Carver is now being accused of having ties with past or present Ranger boards. That includes being in close cahoots with Mike Ashley, Charles Green and Craig Whyte.
Among the names mentioned, Mike Ashley is the one that may be standing out. The Rangers have yet to settle a £3m loan to the Sports Direct tycoon from last year.
Regardless, the banker and Suns owner insists that he is pushing through with his bid and will be awaiting the decision on his offer. The Rangers are in a pretty deep hole and while apprehensions and controversies have made the entire process a little bit more complicated than expected, nothing has changed as far as Carver's intent is concerned.
With time running out, the Rangers need to find a way to address their funding woes. A decision on what direction the Rangers will take is expected to be made by the start of next week.
