Rimes depressed after Eddie Cibrian affair: felt "pathetic" and was disgusted with herself [VIDEO]

LeAnn Rimes has revealed that she was depressed after her affair with Eddie Cibrian, which led to his breakup with then-wife Brandi Glanville.

Rimes, who met Cibrian on the set of Lifetime movie "Northern Lights", eventually ended up marrying him, but revealed that she felt "pathetic" in the aftermath of of the affair.

The country singer said she felt a lot of guilt for being Cibrian's secret mistress, which led to her seeking treatment for depression, anxiety and stress.

The 30-year-old told Us Weekly: "I went in and took care of myself because I was stressed, I was depressed and anxious, and I didn't know how to process everything … Going away was something I really needed to do."

She also explained that creating her album "Spitfire" was a form of "intensive therapy", which forced her to face her feelings about her affair. "I think I opened up the can of worms for myself by writing this record … There were a lot of things I didn't even realize I was feeling … I needed to go somewhere and really process all of that stuff."

She continued: "I was feeling all these crazy emotions and feeling terrible about myself and was disgusted by myself and thought I was pathetic. Sometimes it takes walking through those tough times to come out the other side stronger and wiser …I'm gonna make mistakes as I move on in life, but that's who we are, and I'm fortunate that I've grown a lot and I'm proud of who I am now.. it's a good place to be."

Rimes has won two Grammys and sold over 37 million records worldwide.

She was married to backup dancer Dean Sheremet in 2002. They separated in 2009 and finalized their divorce in 2010. It was in 2009 that she met Eddie Cibrian on the set of the TV movie. Brandi Glanville, his then wife with whom he has two kids, kicked him out of their house and Cibrian later filed for divorce.

Rimes and Cibrian tied the knot in 2011 and Rimes is now a wife and stepmother to Cibrian's children.
