"Prison Break" season 5 is set seven years after the original, which means that it will be equivalent to real time. The show's four-year run ended in 2009.

While the revival will show more of the life of Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and company, fans will also get a glimpse of what happened before.

"Obviously we don't have time for every update, but we will get a glimpse into the intervening years," the writers of "Prison Break" season 5 revealed on Twitter.

During an interview with Digital Spy, Miller said that the characters will be both familiar and different come the nine-episode limited series. "You can expect a lot more of the same things that you loved first time around," the actor said.

"And it will also be quite different as the characters have changed, so my character in particular is no longer just a hero - he's a few other things as well. I think the fans will get a kick out of it," he went on to say.

The actor said that they gave their best in making "Prison Break" season 5 the comeback that loyal fans of the show have been waiting for.

The "Legends of Tomorrow" star said that they made sure that everything that makes up the nine episodes of the revival is of the highest quality.

A legion of fans is waiting for "Prison Break" season 5 and they are all expecting much about the return of the show. Many are already looking forward to season 6.

Miller also touched on the possibility of a renewal during the interview. The actor said that it will depend on how "Prison Break" season 5 performs and which actors will be able to return.

If the ratings are high as well as the viewership, fans can count on another season. It is important to note that this is not the only factor to consider in the renewal as the availability of the cast is also to be considered.

"Prison Break" season 5 premieres spring 2017.
