Prince Harry and Emma Watson dating rumours are a hoax

When something seems too good to be true, then it probably is.

The social media universe recently went wild with rumours that Prince Harry and Emma Watson were secretly dating, but the actress has just cleared the issue up on her Twitter account (@EmWatson) by saying that people should not believe everything they read on the internet.

She tweeted, "WORLD ♥ Remember that little talk we had about not believing everything written in the media?!"

The dating rumours stemmed from the Australian magazine Woman's Day, which claimed that as soon as Prince Harry learned that Watson had split up from her British rugby player boyfriend Matthew Janney at the end of last year, he asked their mutual friend to arrange a meeting so they could get to know each other better.

The magazine added that Prince Harry arranged a date with 12 other friends so as not to put Watson in the spot, and the report even claimed that the two really hit it off.

"He's smitten – and it's more than Emma's looks," an insider told the magazine.

Us Weekly also dismissed the rumours after consulting with a reliable source.

"It's fake," the source told Us. "It's such a random story. I can see the Internet is going mad for this one."

This was not the first time Watson's fans were eager for her to hook up with a well-known figure. During the British Fashion Awards, she was linked to One Direction's Harry Styles.

But Us Weekly said that there were no sparks on Watson's side. "She has no plans to date Harry Styles," a source told them, "though he was nice at the awards."

Meanwhile, Prince Harry was previously linked to Cressida Bonas, though they broke up last April 2014 after two years of dating.
