Popcorn Time news: App now back and operational again

Rumors of Popcorn Time's app appear to have been greatly exaggerated, as it is now ready and able to deliver the content users have come to expect from it.

The app's return comes in the wake of recent troubles that have led to its operations and development stalling for a bit. The unofficial hiatus didn't last for too long. According to Forbes, development on the Popcorn Time was suspended for all of three weeks before returning to relatively normal operations.

Popcorn Time's operations were hamstrung in part due to the actions of the MPAA, otherwise known as the Motion Picture Association of America. The MPAA, along with some help from other organizations, worked to finally halt the operations of Popcorn Time, and for a time, it seemed as though their efforts would succeed.

The MPAA's efforts even led to two well-known developers of Popcorn Time being forced to end any kind of work related to the app. The two developers were identified on Reddit and it does look as though their association with the app has ended.

Some Popcorn Time servers were also affected, leading to even more troubles for the app.

Those troubles look to have ended for now, however, as the app is up and running again.

According to Softpedia, the reason that Popcorn Time is back is due in large part to the efforts of the community that is supporting it. Some members of that very community have now taken on the task of further developing the app.

In order to ensure that an incident such as the one that took place on Reddit does not repeat itself, the identities of Popcorn Time's new developers are now being intentionally kept under wraps.

Popcorn Time's developers are also working on new changes that would make it even more difficult for any agency to go after them and shut down their operations.
