Electronic Arts is letting players get a free taste of The Sims 4 but for a limited time only. For 48 hours, you can play the game as you wish and then decide on whether you want to pay for the game or not.

The Sims 4 has been added to the Game Time lineup on Origin, allowing PC users to play the game for free for approximately 2 days. The time to install the game is of course not included and your counter starts once you actually start playing. The game can be downloaded only until February 2.

Upon the completion of your game installation, you will find the various full version options. That includes Build Mode and the usual Create-A-Sim among others. Once you start playing, your progress will be saved. After a players uses up his or her 48 hours of free play, he or she can opt to pay for the game or not. If players decide to pay for it, the game costs around $69.99.

The free offering is said to be part of a gift by the developers (Maxis) in celebration of the franchise turning 15 on February 4.

The Sims 4 have somehow become a disappointment to gamers who have been playing the game ever since and hopefully this limited time free play offering can win back the trust of gamers. However, there may still be content that would be lacking once it does launch, as well as some features which were missing before.

Among the missing features include the tiny toddler life stage.

While the promotion seems to be a form of trying to do damage control, there will surely be gamers who will avail of this freebie. If so, it would be interesting to note if they had addressed the lacking features already or added new ones at that.
