Poussey's (Samira Wiley) death left the Litchfield inmates feeling one thing — revenge, and this is what they will exact on the administration of the prison in "Orange is the New Black" season 5.
The inmates will be brought together with one goal in the new season, which is to bring their good friend's death to justice, especially after the prison kept it under wraps.
Daya (Dascha Polanco) is one trigger away from increasing the death toll in "Orange is the New Black" season 5, with two prison guards left at her mercy in the previous season.
It is a mystery, at the moment, if Daya will pull the trigger. An even greater question is where her decision will take her in "Orange is the New Black" season 5.
Shooting these two prison guards would mean trouble for her and will put her in the crosshairs of the people responsible for her friend's murder. Letting them go will also do some damage either way.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Polanco said that her character will pull the trigger in "Orange is the New Black" season 5 and that right now, she cares about nothing else but going all out.
"I think Daya's definitely experiencing some postpartum depression. She might pull back and think about being a mother and not wanting to miss the opportunity of being with her child. But a woman going through postpartum — at that point, they're very fragile and very sensitive," the actress explained.
Polanco said that Poussey's death was the last draw, prompting every heartbreak and frustration her character went through in the prison bubbling to the surface in "Orange is the New Black" season 5.
As for Taystee (Danielle Brooks), much like Litchfield itself, she will never be the same again following the tragedy.
"Losing both Vee and Poussey, and then the death of Poussey having no justice, she's ready for war. You're going to get a very different Taystee than the Taystee you met in the shower, season one, episode one, talking about TV t—s. It's definitely going to be a different Taystee from here on out," Brooks teased E! Online.
"Orange is the New Black" season 5 is expected premiere around June next year on Netflix.
