New information about the OnePlus 2 proves that the flagship is not just hype. The device recently squared off with the Apple iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, the top high-end smartphones available, to determine which flagship has the best rear-facing camera.

According to Android Headlines, the OnePlus 2, which is touted to outperform its biggest competitors, easily slayed the Apple flagship in a nighttime photography showdown. The site says that every photo taken by the handset from the Chinese company has more detail and less noise.

The OnePlus flagship also had another stellar shooter showing, this time against Samsung's most formidable smartphone creation to date. Comparing the macro shots of random objects of the phones, the OnePlus 2 snaps are much brighter.

As per Android Authority, the device owes its remarkable performance to an alleged 13-megapixel primary snapper, which is capable of f/2.0 aperture max. However, the site says that this unit lacks Optical Image Stabilization. Meanwhile, others say the handset will have dual-camera configuration.

In other news, the OnePlus 2 stopped by Antutu to show off its power. Although there are qualms about the flagship utilizing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, which doesn't have the greatest reputation right now for overheating issues, OnePlus assured consumers that the tweaks done on the SoC will address the said issues.

As seen in the benchmark test, the China-based tech firm's promise was solidified, with OnePlus 2 garnering 63,719 points. GSM Arena says this is the best performance from the processor so far. This puts the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, which has the same chipset and once owned the top spot, in second place.

Touted as the 2016 flagship killer, the OnePlus 2 is said to come with a 5.7-inch (1440 x 2560 pixel resolution) display, rendering a 515 ppi density. It is reportedly getting a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter as well. Confirmed specs include 4 GB of RAM, dual SIM support, USB Type-C port, and a fingerprint scanner.

The flagship will be launched in a virtual reality event on July 27.
