In the last chapter of the long-running manga "One Piece," fans were treated to a bombshell as the Corrida Coliseum combatants told Luffy that they wanted to join the Straw Hat captain and his fighter friends in his quest to become the Pirate King. This came as a big surprise, as if the series would lean toward the Straw Hat Pirates taking on the Four Yonkou. This would mean that should Luffy accept the proposal, his crew would balloon and become 5,600-strong.
However, some fans of the series, and of the main protagonist particularly, argue that Luffy would never accept the agreement to be the "Father" to the pirates, much like the relationship between Whitebeard and his allied crews, because it's in his nature to treat his comrades as friends rather than underlings.
Other characters whom Luffy have crossed swords with in the past, including Fujitora, believe that Luffy's insistence on friendship, plus his carefree attitude and come-what-may outlook, is plain naïveté. This is apparent in chapter 799's battle between Fujitora and Luffy, as the Admiral mocked the Straw Hat Captain when he insisted on telegraphing his moves because he wanted a "fair fight," as Fujitora is blind and "cannot see" Luffy's movements.
Meanwhile, other fans are making their own guesses as to what will happen in the next chapter. According to rumors, the next character build-up for either Luffy's or Trafalgar Law's crew could be Bartolomeo the Cannibal.
Whatever happens in the next chapter, fans are expecting that there will be a big reveal included. "One Piece" will be entering its 800th chapter, and series creator Eiichiro Oda is known to celebrate series milestones by dropping unexpected twists into the story.
"One Piece" is currently on break and will return for chapter 800 next week.
