Oklahoma Sooners point guard Trae Young has been making noise in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as well as in the National Basketball League (NBL), and his performance on the floor has led to Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving comparisons.

The 19-year-old freshman recently made headlines when he put up 26 points and an NCAA record of 22 assists during their match against the Northwestern State Demons. Young is currently averaging 28.7 points and 10.4 assists per game. On Dec. 22, Young finished with 31 points and 12 assists after facing off with the Northwestern Wildcats, recording 25 points and 10 assists during the first half of the game. He also led the Sooners to victory by sealing 43 points during their match against Oregon Ducks last Nov. 26.

Young is being recognized for his many abilities such as sinking threes from deep range, wide court vision, handling skills, and finesse. ESPN uploaded a video on who could be Young's National Basketball Association (NBA) equivalent. Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving were included in the short list. ESPN also name dropped other talented guards like Steve Nash, Chris Paul, and Damian Lillard.

According to SB Nation, the comparisons between Young and some of the best guards in the NBA are justified with the efficiency of his performance in the court.

Even Lebron James acknowledged Young's amazing NCAA career and motivated him to keep pushing. The King posted a picture of him and Young together during a practice session on Instagram. James wrote, "Keep going young!! Don't stop fam!! #striveforgreatness."

The Sooners are having strong NCAA campaign with 10 wins and only one loss so far. They will face the undefeated TCU Horned Frogs at the Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas this coming Saturday.
