Obama family Christmas greeting proves that he is still popular

Former U.S. president Barack Obama took some time to send out a family greeting of cheer and merriment on his Twitter page during the Christmas weekend. This is an unsurprising thing for Obama to do, since he has religiously been active on social media during the high holidays — but what's surprising is the overwhelming positive response that his family greeting garnered from netizens.

The tweet that Obama posted features the entire former first family and bears the caption, "On behalf of the Obama family, Merry Christmas! We wish you joy and peace this holiday season." The family members look jubilant as they pose in front of a giant Christmas tree, with the former president wearing a smart looking suit and Michelle sporting a white dress. Also present in the photo are Obama's daughters, Malia and Sasha, who are also in formal but holiday- appropriate attire.

The post was adored by a lot of people, and it even received an estimated 86,000 likes on Twitter and over 100,000 likes on Facebook within just 20 minutes of posting. Many netizens sounded off in the comments section, expressing that they wish for Obama to be the U.S. president again.

Other positive comments recollect Obama's deeds when he was still living in the White House. According to Elle, Obama's Christmas greeting was favored heavily in social media compared to the Christmas greeting of current U.S. President Donald Trump. It is quite clear that Obama's presidency is missed by a lot of people — and that just does not include Americans but also people from all around the world.

Trump posted his Christmas greeting on the morning of Christmas day, and it accumulated about 128,000 likes and more than 34,000 retweets by the afternoon. However, in just two hours, Obama's greeting garnered 724,000 likes and upward of 149,000 tweets.
