After the Google Nexus 5X enhancement update the other day, the Nexus 6P will now start receiving its own set of updates.
Orin, the community manager for Nexus, posted the new update announcement on Reddit, saying, "Some of you may have seen my post on r/nexus5x yesterday mentioning the OTA update for the 5X. There were many questions about a similar build for the Nexus 6P, and I want to let you all know that an OTA update will begin rolling out today for the 6P. We value and listen to your feedback, and this update includes a number of bug fixes that will improve overall stability and performance on the Nexus 6P."
The new build version is MHC19I and will replace MMB29Q.
The Google representative added, "Thank you all again for continuing to share feedback, and let us know how it goes!"
The Nexus community is greatly satisfied with the way the search engine giant is handling its support for its phones. Other phone manufacturers take years to roll out updates, as one Nexus 6P owner stated on the board.
Orin then informed Nexus 6P owners that the update will have enhancements similar to the Nexus 5X that include:
- General performance and stability update
- A fix for the disappearing succeeding alarm after Do-No-Disturb (DND) mode
- A fix for connectivity issues
- A fix for Carrier-specific bugs
One specific issue that Nexus 6P owners are experiencing is in its performance, especially when the said device is doing a lot of processing. According to Phone Arena, custom Android kernel developer Francisco Franco explained that the current build will try to fix this particular issue, where Google increased the tick rate of its internal kernel, adjusted the IO performance, and minimized the memory conservation system of the RAM.
Several Nexus 6P owners have already posted on the Reddit board that they are experiencing improvements in the device while there are still some saying that they still have the same issues.
The Nexus 5X and 6P community will have the bigger picture with the current updates after a few more days.
The Huawei Nexus 6P and the LG Nexus 5X were released last year.
