It is expected that most devices running on Android stand to enjoy improvements once the latest update is applied. And apparently one of the key things that many want to be addressed is the battery life span, something that previous Android OS versions have so far failed to improve.
And based on tests conducted by GSMArena, the Nexus 5 was one of the phones that may not necessarily draw praises from users after churning out very disappointing numbers as far as battery life is concerned.
There were four phones put to the test by GSM Arena and the Nexus 5 and the LG G3 turned out to be the phones that could be affected the most.
The Nexus 5 which previously ran on the Android Kitkat 4.4 returned a decline on standby time. From the original standby time of 40 hours, such went down by 2 hours and became 38 hours after applying the said update.
Talk time was another test that was ran, and the results showed that the Nexus 5 lost six hours of use after the update.
In summary, not all android powered phones stand to benefit from the Android 5.0 Lollipop once updated. Based on this testing, the Nexus 5 and the LG G3 batteries were significantly affected despite earlier hopes that it would be improved with the previous Android KitKat version.
For now, it looks like the HTC One M8 was the lone handset to benefit from the update while the Samsung Galaxy S5 practically remained unchanged.
Hence, it is advisable for Nexus 5 and LG G3 phone owners to try and hold off updating to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop at least for now. Doing so may add to your battery life problems and who knows what else.
For the people who have already applied the update, well, all you can do now is wait for the next Android update and pray that it can address the problems raised by the recent Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
