Nexus 5 2015 release date, specs rumors: Two variants, Snapdragon 820 processor, 3D camera

The first version of Nexus 5 from LG Electronics Google website

Rumors about the Nexus 5 2015 are gaining momentum and the specs sheet of the forthcoming heavyweight smartphone is already filled in even before Google actually makes it official. A lot is expected of the device since the original Nexus 5 was successful during its reign.

Because of this, Google might go all out by releasing not one but two versions of the highly-anticipated device. One version, as per rumors, will be manufactured by South Korean tech firm LG and is codenamed Bullhead.

The other one, which bears the moniker Angler, is set to be made by Chinese tech firm Huawei, which is a bit of a surprise to users. As far as the specs are concerned, there remains no designations as to which variant will possess which specification.

It is being said that the device will come with a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, which is markedly smaller than the Nexus 6. According to IBTimes, the smaller screen is Google's attempt at making things right — it made the Nexus 6 an inch larger than its predecessor, the original Nexus 5, which apparently didn't work well.

It also seems like the Nexus 5 2015 will have Android M pre-installed. The new OS version is currently under development. This will pave the way to the possible integration of a slew of features and components tailored specifically to work on the OS such as the USB Type-C port. The new OS will bring support to the reversible connector, which hints that the Nexus handsets that Google will release subsequent to the prevalence of the new software will likely be equipped with such component. This makes the Nexus 5 2015 a viable candidate for that bit.

Other specs include a 13-megapixel camera on the front and a 20-megapixel camera on its rear fitted out with optical image stabilization, with others saying it may be 3D. There's also 4 GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor combo, and up to 128 GB of storage that may be expandable.

The Nexus 5 2015 is expected to be released in fall.
