New York Knicks rumors: Jimmy Butler could end up with Knicks

The New York Knicks are sitting on pins and needles these days and surely Phil Jackson and company are looking forward to a productive offseason to see who they could possibly consider to beef up their roster.

A lot of names have been mentioned, including that of Jimmy Butler. And with rumors that the current Bulls player is considering the Knicks as a next stop should provide the Knicks a big sigh of relief.

However, that should be easier than said. Being a restricted free agent, the Bulls will have the last say on where Butler would eventually end up. So that means no matter how expletive of an offer sheet would be dangled to Butler, the Bulls could opt to match it or think of another way to make sure they don't end up empty-handed.

There is another team that Butler is reportedly interested in but it was only the Knicks who have by far been revealed.

Butler currently leads the Bulls in minutes, points and steals. With Derrick Rose sidelined, Butler is expected to pick up the pace and fill in the void in place of the injured star.

Butler was part of the recently concluded NBA All Star game and was named to the NBA All-Defensive team in 2014. His career is currently on the upswing so rumors about him probably testing free agency is only to be expected.

So while Butler has shown interest, the Knicks could have to do some planning as early as now on how to land the 25 year old player from Tomball, Texas since the Bulls are not expected to give him up that easily.
